Paxos Labs builds enterprise-grade onchain infrastructure used by large financial organizations to support transparent and verifiable digital asset products. The Smart Contract Engineer role sits within the engineering organization and focuses on scaling the company’s DeFi protocol infrastructure.

The position involves researching, designing, and implementing core protocol mechanisms across areas such as vaults and lending. You will contribute directly to Solidity-based production systems, lead protocol-level design decisions, and maintain a secure, well-organized open-source codebase. The team works primarily in person in New York City, with remote arrangements considered on a case-by-case basis.

🔹 Responsibilities

Research and design protocol mechanisms related to vaults, lending, and other DeFi primitives
Lead protocol design decisions while evaluating tradeoffs around trust assumptions and efficiency
Develop Solidity smart contracts and create comprehensive testing suites
Maintain strong organizational practices and security standards for an open-source codebase

🔹 Requirements

Deep knowledge of lending protocols such as Compound, Aave, Morpho Blue, MakerDAO, Euler, EVC, Liquity, or Pendle
Deep knowledge of vault-related systems such as Yearn V3, Metamorpho/Morpho V2, BoringVaults, ERC-7540, or Centrifuge
Familiarity with AMMs or solver networks (e.g., CoW Protocol, UniswapX, Uniswap V3/V4, 1inch) and RFQ systems
Experience shipping production Solidity contracts to mainnet
Experience writing and maintaining tests, including unit, fork, fuzz, and invariant testing
Proficiency with smart contract tooling such as Foundry (preferred) or Hardhat
Familiarity with other languages or frameworks such as Vyper, Rust, Cairo, or CosmWasm
Hands-on experience as a user or investor in DeFi protocols
Strong interest in DeFi yield strategies, tokenization, and decentralized lending models
