Protocol Engineer — Distributed Systems & DeFi Infrastructure

Plum network is developing an EVM-compatible blockchain infrastructure platform focused on real-world assets and decentralized finance integrations. The protocol engineering team works across validator systems, full node infrastructure, backend architecture, on-chain integrations, and Web3 user experiences supporting scalable blockchain infrastructure roles. This remote engineering role involves designing core blockchain software, improving network reliability, and building protocol-level features across the crypto and DeFi stack. Engineers will work with distributed systems, networking protocols, consensus infrastructure, Node.js services, smart account tooling, and backend observability systems while contributing to scalable on-chain infrastructure in a fast-moving development environment.
Web3 security roles and protocol infrastructure hiring increasingly require engineers comfortable working across networking, backend systems, and on-chain architecture simultaneously.
🔹 Responsibilities
• Design, implement, and maintain blockchain network software supporting validators and full nodes
• Solve infrastructure and protocol challenges related to declarative trading and vertical blockchain solutions
• Work across multiple layers of the crypto and DeFi stack including backend systems, on-chain swaps, and frontend Web3 UX
• Lead development of scalable, secure, and efficient protocol features
• Contribute to protocol design, blockchain performance optimization, and network reliability improvements
• Ensure secure and efficient blockchain network operations
• Stay informed about developments in protocol design and communication technologies
• Collaborate on end-to-end feature delivery across blockchain infrastructure and product systems
Build a web3 engineering team capable of designing resilient validator infrastructure and scalable protocol systems for evolving decentralized ecosystems.
🔹 Requirements
• Experience designing and operating systems related to distributed systems, consensus protocols, networking protocols, storage systems, databases, high-performance systems, or compilers
• Familiarity with Viem/Wagmi, permissionless.js/pimlico, SIWE, and ZeroDev Kernel Smart Accounts
• Strong backend engineering skills using Node.js with TypeScript
• Experience with MySQL/Drizzle, Axiom, and Sentry
• Ability to work with Python-based solvers
• Proven experience designing and implementing solutions within fast-paced engineering environments
• Strong interest in crypto and decentralized finance ecosystems
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
• Strong communication, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities
