Senior Software Engineer, Data

This role contributes to the development and optimization of Alchemy’s data infrastructure, supporting insights and decision-making across multiple teams. As a Senior Software Engineer on the Data team, you will architect scalable pipelines, manage integrations across diverse sources, and work with systems such as Snowflake, Airflow, Kafka, and Flink.

The position involves designing workflows, improving performance, establishing monitoring systems, and ensuring data security and compliance. You’ll collaborate with analysts, scientists, and stakeholders to deliver reliable data solutions while exploring new frameworks, including AI-driven tooling. This full-time role is based in New York or San Francisco, with a base salary range of $210,000–$220,000

🔹 Responsibilities

• Architect and implement data infrastructure solutions using Snowflake.
• Manage and optimize data pipelines for integration across varied data sources.
• Tune Snowflake performance, including compute, storage, and query optimization.
• Implement data security, privacy, governance, and disaster recovery best practices.
• Collaborate with analysts, scientists, and business teams to deliver impactful data solutions.
• Build production DAG workflows for batch data processing and storage.
• Establish monitoring systems to ensure data availability and reliability.
• Develop frameworks and tools to enable team members to create and debug data pipelines.

🔹 Requirements

• BS in Computer Science or related field; MS/PhD is a plus.
• 8+ years in software engineering, including 4+ years in data engineering or infrastructure.
• Experience with workflow orchestration tools (Airflow, Temporal, etc.).
• Experience with streaming architectures like Kafka and Flink.
• Experience with Snowflake, Spark, Trino, or similar query engines.
• Familiarity with data modeling frameworks such as DBT or SQLMesh.
• Experience with Apache Iceberg or comparable data lake formats.
• Understanding of datalake ingestion patterns.
• Self-starter with strong execution and autonomy.
• Ability to balance high-quality engineering with fast iteration.
• Experience with Terraform, Pulumi, or other IaC tools is a plus.
• Experience with agentic AI frameworks is a plus.
• Interest in blockchain technologies is a plus.
