Senior DevOps Engineer (Senior) — Cloud Infrastructure & Kubernetes

Polygon Labs builds blockchain-based payments infrastructure designed to move money onchain at internet scale. This full-time remote role (EMEA) sits within the Technology department’s Payments team and focuses on building secure, cloud-native infra from the ground up.

The Senior DevOps Engineer will own infrastructure decisions across Google Cloud Platform environments, Terraform-based infrastructure as code, Kubernetes orchestration, CI/CD pipelines, and observability systems. The role supports blockchain infrastructure roles intersecting finance-grade systems and decentralized technology.

Reporting to the Head of Payments Engineering, this position plays a key role in scaling a web3 team by establishing reliability standards, automation practices, and production-ready infra aligned with site reliability engineering principles.

2️⃣ Responsibilities & Requirements

This role is central to blockchain infrastructure roles powering financial-grade distributed systems.

🔹 Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate cloud infrastructure for the payments platform, initially focused on Google Cloud Platform

• Implement and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform with emphasis on modularity and scalability

• Partner with payments application engineers to define infra requirements and support CI/CD pipelines, observability, and runtime operations

• Apply security-first practices across networking, compute, and deployment workflows to ensure availability and integrity

• Automate deployment and operational processes to enhance reliability and developer experience

• Establish and evolve infrastructure standards aligned with site reliability engineering principles

🔹 Requirements

• 6+ years of experience building and operating cloud-native infrastructure in production

• Strong hands-on experience with infrastructure as code, container orchestration, and CI/CD systems including Terraform and Kubernetes

• Experience operating workloads on Google Cloud Platform or other major cloud providers such as AWS or Azure

• Demonstrated ability to design secure, highly available systems using site reliability engineering best practices

• Experience in fast-paced, product-focused engineering teams with strong automation focus

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting production systems handling financial or sensitive data

• Familiarity with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry

• Google Cloud certifications (e.g., Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer, Cloud Architect)

• Exposure to blockchain infrastructure or decentralized finance systems

• Strong cross-functional problem-solving ability
