Smart Contract Engineer (EVM / Low-Level Execution)
Remote · EU / UK / North America
Pod Network is an early-stage Web3 protocol team building a novel layer 1 system with a chainless, blockless, and leaderless architecture. This role fits within web3 smart contract roles, focused on Solidity-based protocol development across a remote engineering team spanning Europe, the UK, and North America.
As a Smart Contract Engineer, you will own the development of core protocol contracts including staking, slashing, and committee mechanisms. The role requires deep understanding of EVM internals, gas optimization, and production-grade contract deployment. You will work closely with protocol researchers and engineers to design secure and efficient systems, contributing to a low-level execution environment where correctness, security, and performance are critical.
🔹 Responsibilities
• Own development of smart contracts for core protocol components such as staking, slashing, and committee rotation
• Collaborate with scientists and protocol engineers to design efficient and secure systems
• Participate in security reviews, simulations, and adversarial testing
• Write comprehensive tests and documentation for production-grade contracts
🔹 Requirements
• 2+ years of experience with Solidity and Ethereum smart contract development
• Deep understanding of EVM, gas models, state management, EIPs, and tooling such as Foundry and Hardhat
• Experience deploying and maintaining production smart contracts
• Familiarity with DeFi protocols, MEV-aware design, and on-chain incentive structures
• Strong understanding of smart contract security and common vulnerabilities
Nice to Have
• Background in distributed systems, auctions, or mechanism design
