Parity

Remote

Full Time Posted: Jul 10, 2026
Job description

Parity develops open-source blockchain infrastructure that supports projects including Polkadot, the Polkadot SDK, and Kusama. The Runtime team works on technically complex engineering initiatives that require strong coordination, planning, and operational leadership.

This full-time remote Engineering Manager role focuses on leading a distributed engineering team, improving execution across technical workstreams, and partnering with engineering leaders to deliver projects effectively. The position is centered on people leadership, delivery management, stakeholder collaboration, and architectural understanding rather than hands-on coding.

🔹 Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and support a team of approximately nine engineers within the Runtime function.

  • Foster a healthy, collaborative, and high-trust team culture with a strong focus on people management.

  • Drive planning, prioritization, and execution across complex technical initiatives.

  • Work with stakeholders to negotiate timelines and delivery trade-offs using a pragmatic approach.

  • Develop sufficient technical understanding to participate in architecture discussions and translate technical direction into execution plans.

  • Partner with technical leaders and contributors to remove blockers and maintain delivery momentum.

  • Improve team processes, communication, and delivery predictability across a distributed workforce.

  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and continuous development of engineering team members as the organization grows.

🔹 Requirements

  • Experience leading engineering or highly technical teams as an Engineering Manager or Technical Project Manager.

  • Strong people management experience with a history of building healthy engineering teams and supporting employee growth.

  • Excellent project management and delivery planning skills, including dependency management and stakeholder communication.

  • Technical knowledge sufficient to understand complex system architecture and collaborate effectively with senior engineers.

  • Comfortable working in a leadership and delivery-focused position rather than a hands-on coding role.

  • Strong judgment when balancing technical complexity, delivery objectives, and team wellbeing.

  • Experience working with distributed engineering teams, ideally across Europe or closely aligned European time zones.

  • Nice to have: experience in highly technical or infrastructure-focused environments.

🔹 Compensation & Benefits

  • Full-time employment.

  • Fully remote work environment.

  • Flexible remote-first culture.

  • Opportunities to meet colleagues during team and company retreats throughout the year.

  • Work alongside globally distributed engineering teams building open-source blockchain infrastructure.
