Parity develops open-source blockchain infrastructure that powers projects including Polkadot, the Polkadot SDK, and Kusama. This contract opportunity is part of the Acceleration department, where engineers contribute to blockchain infrastructure roles by building protocol capabilities, developer tooling, and ecosystem integrations.
As a Core Developer within the Runtime function, you will collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to design and maintain core protocol functionality that supports decentralized applications. The role emphasizes ownership, protocol engineering, distributed collaboration, and open-source development while contributing to foundational runtime components used across the Polkadot ecosystem. It is well suited to developers interested in layer 1 blockchain jobs involving protocol design and systems engineering.
🔹 Responsibilities
Design and implement advanced protocols used by the Polkadot protocol and by teams building applications on it.
Collaborate closely with product development teams and contribute directly to product outcomes.
Build tooling and abstractions that simplify application development across the ecosystem.
🔹 Requirements
Ability to work autonomously and solve technical problems independently.
Experience collaborating within an open-source development environment, including participating in peer reviews as both reviewer and reviewee.
Strong understanding of system design and the ability to work with complex software systems.
Demonstrated ownership of work and accountability for delivery outcomes.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts in plain English through blog posts or conference presentations.
