Backend Integrations Engineer
Remote · US - time zones
Yield.xyz builds yield infrastructure for Web3 developers by aggregating staking, restaking, stablecoin, and DeFi yield opportunities across multiple blockchains into a unified API platform. The Backend Integrations Engineer role focuses on designing backend systems that connect Web2 infrastructure with blockchain-based financial protocols.
This position operates as a remote role in the United States, collaborating with distributed engineering teams working across multiple American timezones. The role contributes to building backend services, data pipelines, and APIs that support integrations with wallets, fintech platforms, and DeFi applications. Engineers in blockchain infrastructure roles at Yield.xyz work across cloud infrastructure, PostgreSQL data systems, and blockchain integrations to maintain reliable, scalable services powering yield aggregation across networks.
Teams scaling a web3 team often rely on backend engineers to design systems that connect protocol data, APIs, and distributed infrastructure.
🔹 Responsibilities
• Design and build high-throughput, low-latency backend services using TypeScript and Node.js with strong focus on API design, schema stability, and versioning
• Architect PostgreSQL database schemas and optimize complex queries for production workloads while leveraging Redis for caching and real-time data access
• Build data pipelines that ingest, process, and normalize blockchain protocol data in real time at scale
• Integrate new yield sources including staking, restaking, and DeFi protocols into the Yield.xyz infrastructure, including smart contract interaction, transaction signing, and multi-chain coordination
• Develop and maintain external APIs used by Web3 wallets and fintech platforms integrating with the Yield.xyz platform
• Conduct research and experimentation on emerging protocols, validator architectures, and Web3 infrastructure and propose integration strategies
• Operate backend services on AWS in collaboration with DevOps engineers to maintain reliability, performance, and security
• Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to investigate and respond to incidents affecting APIs, integrations, and data pipelines
• Mentor and collaborate with engineers across the organization on backend architecture and Web3 infrastructure concepts
• Own feature delivery end-to-end, including design, implementation, deployment, monitoring, and iteration based on system performance
Hiring teams building blockchain infrastructure roles often prioritize engineers with strong backend architecture experience and distributed systems knowledge.
🔹 Requirements
• 5+ years of experience building and shipping production-grade backend systems at scale
• Strong proficiency with TypeScript and Node.js (experience with NestJS is a plus)
• Deep expertise with PostgreSQL and production experience with Redis or similar in-memory data stores, including schema design, optimized queries, and complex data relationships
• Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS, for building scalable and reliable systems
• Expertise in API design including schema versioning, backward compatibility, rate limiting, and scalable API architecture
• Ability to design, build, test, and ship backend features end-to-end with minimal guidance
• Self-driven approach to solving complex technical problems and building production systems
• Attention to system reliability, security considerations, and performance optimization
• Strong written and asynchronous communication skills for collaboration within distributed teams
🔹 Strong Advantages
• Familiarity with Web3 infrastructure including RPCs, blockchain transaction signing, multi-chain integrations, and Solidity smart contracts
• Experience building scalable indexing systems or blockchain data pipelines such as The Graph, Subgraphs, or custom indexers
• Experience building systems interacting with blockchain nodes or smart contracts
• Knowledge of staking systems, validator infrastructure, DeFi protocols, or yield mechanisms
• Contributions to open-source projects related to Web3 or data infrastructure
• Experience working in high-growth startup environments requiring cross-functional ownership
• Curiosity and interest in emerging Web3 technologies and decentralized finance
