Staff Engineer (Full Stack) — Node.js / Vue

The Block is a global research, analysis, and media platform focused on digital assets, operating across multiple time zones with a distributed remote team. This role sits within the Product & Engineering function, contributing to the evolution of its web platform, data systems, and user-facing experiences.
As a Staff Full Stack Engineer, you will own feature development across frontend and backend systems, working on content platforms, analytics layers, and crypto data integrations. The role involves shaping architectural decisions, improving performance, and supporting systems like memberships and payments. This is aligned with blockchain infrastructure roles, where engineering impact directly supports data-heavy platforms operating at scale in remote, async environments.
🔹 Responsibilities
• Build and maintain features across frontend (Vue, Nuxt, Tailwind) and backend (Node.js/Bun.js, Nitro, PHP, Laravel, Postgres, GraphQL, Redis)
• Use AI tools (Claude, Codex, Cursor) for code generation, debugging, and documentation
• Collaborate with design, editorial, research, and engineering teams to deliver product features
• Implement analytics, logging, and performance tracking systems
• Manage systems related to membership, payments, and content access
• Contribute to frontend and backend architecture decisions and best practices
• Participate in sprint planning, code reviews, and pair programming
• Improve CI/CD pipelines, QA tooling, and deployment workflows
🔹 Requirements
• 6–8 years of full-stack engineering experience across frontend and backend systems
• Frontend: Vue, Nuxt, Vuex, TailwindCSS, PWAs, SASS/SCSS, BEM, responsive design
• Backend: Node.js with structured frameworks (NestJS, Nuxt/Nitro, Laravel), Postgres, GraphQL, Redis/memcached
• Strong experience with Git/GitHub workflows in remote teams
• Proficiency with Unix command line and DevOps tools (Docker, Vagrant, or similar)
• Understanding of web analytics and performance monitoring
• Experience with payment and subscription systems
• Familiarity with ESP APIs and email workflows
Nice to Have
• Knowledge of crypto, DeFi, or blockchain systems
• Experience with BI tools (Google Data Studio, Tableau, Domo)
• Exposure to AI-assisted development workflows
• Interest in financial markets, crypto, and digital asset ecosystems
