Squads is a fintech company building infrastructure and APIs for the stablecoin economy, with products spanning multisig wallets, business accounts, and personal finance applications. The Senior Protocol Engineer will work on Grid, Squads’ stablecoin infrastructure and developer platform, focusing on the Solana programs that power smart account functionality.

This role owns the design and implementation of protocol primitives, state-efficient program architecture, and account abstraction patterns that are secure and composable. The engineer collaborates across teams to integrate with external protocols and payment systems, contributes to SDKs and testing frameworks, and helps establish best practices for building high-value, production-grade Solana programs used at scale.

🔹 Responsibilities

Design and implement Solana programs using framework-based or native approaches
Build compute-efficient programs using state compression, PDA optimization, and advanced runtime features
Define protocol architecture including account abstraction primitives, execution models, and multi-program composability
Integrate external protocols and payment systems while maintaining security invariants
Participate in security reviews and establish best practices for high-value program development
Contribute to SDKs, testing frameworks, and developer tooling

🔹 Requirements

2+ years of production Rust experience with a systems programming background
2+ years of experience building Solana programs using Anchor, native, or equivalent frameworks
Strong understanding of the Solana runtime, account model, and nested transaction execution
Experience designing multi-program systems and efficient on-chain state architectures
Proven ability to optimize for compute units, storage costs, and runtime constraints
Security-focused mindset with preference for simple, defensive designs
Attention to low-level details such as compute units, account sizing, and rent optimization
Ability to write clear, well-tested code and stay current with Solana runtime developments
