NPI Engineering Project Specialist — Procurement & Cost Tracking

Tools for Humanity builds identity and verification infrastructure combining hardware, cryptography, and global-scale systems to enable secure human verification in an AI-driven internet. The Devices team manages new product introduction (NPI) across concept, prototype, and mass production stages.
This role operates at the intersection of engineering, supply chain, and finance, owning cost visibility, procurement coordination, and supplier onboarding for hardware programs. The position focuses on execution—ensuring budget tracking, purchase flows, and supplier timelines are tightly managed in a fast-paced environment. It contributes directly to scaling hardware deployment with structured processes and clear cost control, aligning with broader blockchain infrastructure roles and operational execution across distributed systems.
🔹 Responsibilities
• Build and maintain cost trackers for early-stage hardware projects
• Support engineering teams with cost visibility during concept and investigation phases
• Provide budget estimates for prototypes, builds, and design work
• Track actual vs. budget and identify deviations early
• Source and procure prototype components (low-volume, high-mix)
• Manage supplier communication for quotes, timelines, and availability
• Track parts lifecycle from order to delivery to build completion
• Onboard new vendors including NDAs and documentation
• Maintain structured and accessible supplier records
• Follow up with vendors to ensure delivery timelines
• Create and issue purchase orders accurately
• Ensure pre-PO approvals are completed efficiently
• Track spend against purchase orders and project budgets
• Coordinate across teams to track ECNs and cost impacts
• Maintain updated project data across suppliers, costs, and orders
• Build lightweight processes to improve visibility without slowing execution
🔹 Requirements
• 3–4 years experience in operations, project coordination, procurement, or engineering support
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or related field preferred
• Equivalent experience in supply chain, manufacturing, military, consulting, or finance accepted • MBA or Master’s degree is a plus
• Strong attention to detail and organizational ability
• Comfortable working extensively with spreadsheets
• Strong accountability and follow-through
• Clear communication across engineering, vendors, and finance teams
• Problem-solving mindset with bias for action
• Fluency in English required; German is a plus
Preferred:
• Exposure to hardware development, NPI, or manufacturing environments
• Familiarity with procurement workflows (POs, quotes, supplier management)
• Experience with ERP, PLM, or project tracking tools
• Understanding of BOMs, ECNs, or engineering workflows
