Offchain Labs is hiring a Blockchain Engineer focused on smart contract development within the Arbitrum Nitro technology stack. The role involves working across the lifecycle of smart contract engineering — from specification design and prototyping to production code and testing. The engineer will collaborate with internal research and product teams, external auditors, and senior technical leadership.
This position requires hands-on programming experience in Solidity, deep understanding of Ethereum-based blockchain mechanics at the protocol level, and attention to security and system reliability. Candidates should bring 2+ years of blockchain experience, strong CS fundamentals, and a mindset centered on continuous improvement, innovation, and ownership in delivering resilient smart contract infrastructure.
2️⃣ Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and test smart contracts within the Arbitrum ecosystem
Contribute to specification design and prototyping
Collaborate with researchers, product teams, and leadership
Participate in security validation with internal engineers and external auditors
Improve internal engineering processes for speed, safety, and reliability
Stay current with emerging Web3 and Ethereum-protocol innovations
3️⃣ Requirements
Experience working with Ethereum protocol-level concepts
Proficiency in Solidity and related Web3 tooling
2+ years of blockchain development experience
Strong CS fundamentals (formal or self-taught)
Security-first engineering mindset
Ability to drive improvements independently
Clear and collaborative communication style
4️⃣ Nice to Have
Experience with protocol research or L2 systems
Exposure to the Arbitrum stack or similar scaling frameworks
Prior work with external auditors or formal verification groups
