Role Summary

As a Software Engineer on the new Product Analytics Platform team, you will build the foundational telemetry and event-capture architecture for Neo4j Aura (Neo4j’s managed cloud database service). As Aura’s product surface area scales rapidly, you will design and implement the unified contracts, client libraries, and ingestion layers that reliably capture what is happening across the entire cloud platform, enabling data-informed engineering and product decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Event Ingestion & Integration: Design, implement, and maintain internal client libraries and services used across Neo4j Aura products to capture critical product and operational events.
Downstream Alignment: Partner closely with downstream data pipeline and analytics engineering teams to ensure captured events are reliable, structured, performant, and readily usable.
Platform Evolution & RFCs: Author clear Requests for Comments (RFCs), architectural decision records, and technical documentation to establish and drive adoption of platform-wide analytics standards.
Contract Definition & Governance: Define data schemas and event contracts across distributed teams, minimizing instrumentation overhead while maximizing semantic clarity.
Reliability & Scalability: Ensure the telemetry capture platform operates with zero impact on core Aura database operations, maintaining high availability and resilience across multi-cloud environments.

Requirements & Qualifications

Must-Haves

Software Engineering Fundamentals: Solid professional background designing, building, and operating reliable backend services or developer platforms.
Technical Writing & Architecture: Proven ability to author technical RFCs, define API contracts, and document architectural decisions across cross-functional engineering teams.
Communication & Collaboration: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence cross-team roadmaps and drive engineering adoption for new internal platforms.
Systems Mindset: Strong attention to data reliability, schema evolution, and non-blocking instrumentation.

Nice-to-Haves

Experience building or operating telemetry systems, event tracking, or product analytics platforms.
