    Job description

    Mysten Labs develops foundational infrastructure for decentralized systems and Web3 applications. The Walrus Core team is building Walrus, a decentralized storage network designed for high efficiency, strong safety guarantees, and long-term scalability.

    As a Senior Software Engineer, you will work on the low-level components that power Walrus nodes, storage pipelines, and supporting client software. The role spans systems programming, protocol design, performance optimization, and enhancing the reliability of a safety-critical distributed system.

    You will collaborate with internal research, cryptography, security, production, and Sui engineering teams to evolve Walrus and its infrastructure. Candidates should bring strong systems engineering experience in Rust, C, or C++, along with production operations experience and a track record of delivering complex projects.

    🔹 Responsibilities

    • Design, implement, and maintain core Walrus components, including storage nodes, client tooling, and supporting infrastructure.
    • Work with internal research, cryptography, security, and production teams to ensure the network’s performance, safety, and reliability.
    • Optimize distributed systems for improved scalability, throughput, and efficiency.
    • Contribute to protocol evolution and integrate new capabilities across Mysten Labs’ ecosystem.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to support feature integration and system improvements.

    🔹 Requirements

    • 5+ years of experience in systems or network programming using Rust, C, or C++.
    • Background in distributed systems, consensus protocols, high-performance computing, storage systems, or networking.
    • Hands-on experience operating production systems with strong monitoring/alerting practices.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
    • Demonstrated ability to drive complex engineering projects to completion.

    • Experience with Rust.
    • Prior work in blockchain or cryptographic protocols.
    • Open-source contributions.
    • Research background (formal or informal) in relevant CS areas.

    • U.S. base salary range: $150,000–$225,000, determined by role/level (not location).
