Job description

Founded in 2021, Bitstack has evolved from an automated spare-change Bitcoin micro-savings product into a crypto-native bank empowering over 300,000 users across France and Europe to save, spend, and grow their money. Backed by Y Combinator, 13books Capital, Stillmark, Serena, and leading venture firms, Bitstack is rebuilding financial services from the ground up to foster an open and inclusive financial system.

Role Summary

Bitstack is a licensed Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP) authorized under the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA). Reporting directly to the Head of Compliance, you will help oversee and run the company’s regulatory compliance framework, lead regulatory monitoring, maintain operational policies, handle direct relations with French supervisory authorities, and serve as the dedicated TRACFIN reporting officer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Regulatory Monitoring: Monitor and assess regulatory updates impacting crypto-asset service providers (including MiCA, DORA, and the Transfer of Funds Regulation / Travel Rule), delivering actionable impact assessments to senior leadership.

  • TRACFIN Reporting Officer: Review escalated AML/CFT alerts, determine if a Suspicious Transaction Report (STR) is warranted, draft and submit reports via the ERMES platform, and handle formal requests from TRACFIN.

  • Authority Relations & Official Requests: Manage judicial requisitions and inquiries from French tax and regulatory authorities (AMF, ACPR); implement asset-freezing mandates and file declarations with the French Treasury (DG Trésor).

  • Policy Governance: Draft, update, and manage compliance policies and standard operating procedures to maintain alignment with active European and French regulations.

  • Risk & Audit Readiness: Maintain AML/CFT risk classifications, execute compliance risk assessments, prepare for external audits and regulatory examinations, and track corrective action plans.

  • Product & Tech Input: Collaborate with product and tech teams to embed compliance by design into new features, KYC flows, transaction monitoring tools, and marketing promotions.

  • Training & Culture: Design and deliver annual regulatory and AML/CFT training sessions across the organization.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s degree (Bac+5) in banking/financial law, compliance, finance, or a related discipline.

  • Experience: 3+ years of compliance experience within a crypto-asset service provider (CASP), payment institution, credit institution, fintech, or consulting firm.

  • Regulatory Expertise: Deep working knowledge of the French and European AML/CFT framework, alongside experience preparing and filing suspicious transaction reports.

  • Authority Interaction: Direct experience liaising with supervisory bodies, particularly TRACFIN, AMF, or ACPR.

  • Relevant professional compliance certifications (e.g., AMF, CCSF, ACAMS, or equivalent).

  • Healthcare: Top-tier health insurance coverage with 100% employer contribution.

  • Equity & Pay: Competitive base salary based on experience plus Bitstack stock options.

  • Perks: Swile meal vouchers, team events, and annual company offsites.
