Platform Engineer Blockchain Infrastructure

About the Role

Matter Labs is shaping the future of scalability through zkSync, a leading Layer-2 ZK-rollup built for real-world use. The Platform Engineering team lies at the heart of this mission — creating the core developer platform, CI/CD pipelines, and internal tools that make protocol and application development faster, more reliable, and secure.

You’ll work where infrastructure meets protocol engineering, helping every team across the organization ship at scale while maintaining rock-solid reliability.

What You’ll Do

Build and maintain core systems, developer tools, and internal infrastructure powering zkSync’s L1 + L2 architecture.

Develop high-performance backend services and distributed components that scale across networks.

Optimize CI/CD pipelines, testing environments, and observability frameworks for faster release cycles.

Research, prototype, and document infrastructure improvements to enhance developer experience (DevEx).

Partner with Protocol, Core, and Security teams to define the long-term architecture and infrastructure roadmap.

Ensure performance, scalability, and zero-knowledge security standards remain uncompromised.

What We’re Looking For

3–10 years of experience in platform engineering, infrastructure, or protocol systems.

Proven track record in building developer platforms, high-load distributed systems, or tooling for blockchain environments.

Strong command of Rust, Go, C++, or Scala (Rust is a major plus).

Familiarity with smart contract development workflows (Solidity, Foundry, Yul) and L2 rollup architectures.

Experience with CI/CD pipelines, monitoring stacks, and orchestration tools like Docker/Kubernetes.

Understanding of algorithms, data structures, and performance optimization techniques.

Bonus: Knowledge of cryptographic primitives, Merkle trees, or low-level blockchain protocols.
