Been looking for Rust backend jobs lately, and man, it feels like every listing is crypto or Solana-related. Is this just how things are now? Like, if I wanna work with Rust, do I have to learn blockchain? I’m way more into backend dev than crypto stuff, but starting to wonder if I’m limiting my options by ignoring blockchain. Anyone here working with Rust outside of blockchain? Or is it kinda unavoidable at this point? Would love to hear what others think!

The high demand for Rust developers in blockchain and cryptocurrency is due to Rust’s efficiency, safety, and performance, which are essential for these technologies. Projects like Solana require these attributes for their low-latency and high-throughput needs. While backend development skills are crucial, understanding blockchain can significantly boost your job prospects.
Many projects seek Rust developers proficient in both backend and blockchain. I recommend familiarizing yourself with blockchain concepts and frameworks to tap into the numerous opportunities in this dynamic field.
