If you're a photographer looking to leverage blockchain beyond NFTs, there are some solid platforms worth checking out. Pix.T is focused on professional photography and licensing (trust.pixt.co).

For NFT-based sales, OpenSea (opensea.io), MakersPlace (makersplace.com), and SuperRare (superrare.com) cater to digital artists and photographers. Quantum Art (quantum.art) and Foundation (foundation.app) are also gaining traction. Most of these platforms run on Ethereum, so you’ll need a crypto wallet like MetaMask.

Earnings vary based on platform and visibility—some photographers make good money, but competition is high. OpenSea, for instance, takes a 2.5% transaction fee. Since you're exploring this, are you looking for a way to sell photography, secure copyrights, or something else? That would help in suggesting the best approach!

Thanks Damon! I tried to figure out the whole NFT thing when it was a rage during the COVID era. However I found it a bit complex. Would really love to understand how we can make photography or art leverage blockchain and help with securing the originality of the art!

    Hi Kaustubh,

Former Pro-Photographer and 2017 blockchain nerd here ;)

    1. Securing the originality of the art" - in terms of copyright, you don't need to do anything. You as the photographer automatically own the copyright.

To start with NFT, it's nothing more than a technology, with endless possibilities, which makes it complicated. But in short it isn't. You simply need to understand this: An NFT solely represents a proof of ownership of a blockchain record and does not necessarily imply that the owner possesses intellectual property rights to the digital asset the NFT purports to represent! There's where a lot of confusion starts.

When it comes to the minting process, marketplace, etc. I strongly recommend you to join Apechain.

The support you get here is next-level and unseen before. Hit me up if you want to get onboarded.

When it comes to certification or authentication of your physical prints, we've developed a blockchain baked NFC system which allows you to do so.

Hope this helps you a lil bit.

    Bests.
