    I’ve been writing about blockchain stuff (DeFi, NFTs, DAOs) for 2 years now—mostly articles, whitepapers, and blog posts. Trying to navigate the Web3 gig economy and wondering a few things:

    • Is a solid portfolio usually enough to land gigs, or do clients expect more?

    • Do interviews even happen in this space, or is it more portfolio-based?

    • Any tips for finding reliable opportunities or getting your foot in the door with DAOs?

    A strong portfolio is often enough to secure Web3 writing gigs, especially for short-term projects and freelance opportunities. However, for high-value or long-term roles, informal interviews or discussions may still be part of the process. Platforms like Gitcoin, Mirror.xyz, and Braintrust emphasize your deliverables and reputation, so investing in a well-curated portfolio showcasing diverse content (e.g., articles, whitepapers, guides) is essential.

    To find consistent gigs, engage actively in DAOs, Discord communities, and Web3 job boards. Gitcoin bounties are a great starting point for building credibility. Networking within communities like Forefront or contributing to DAOs with open contributions can lead to opportunities organically. For interviews, most questions will focus on blockchain fundamentals and your ability to align content with audience needs.

    Focus on building a digital footprint, staying updated on blockchain trends, and participating in hackathons or writing competitions to enhance visibility.
