Solidity Engineer, Gateway

Zama, an open-source cryptography company focused on Fully Homomorphic Encryption for blockchain, is hiring a Solidity Engineer for the Gateway team, which supports the core execution flow of the Zama Confidential Blockchain Protocol. The position involves building smart contract infrastructure to support rollup operations and trust controls such as DAO governance, multisig, and ownership control using Ethereum-based mechanisms.

The role requires strong familiarity with Solidity, EVM behavior, gas usage, and on-chain scalability approaches. This position collaborates with internal engineering, cryptography, and DevOps teams to maintain reliable on-chain interactions across Zama’s protocol infrastructure. Only candidates operating within the US East Coast or Canadian Eastern time zone are eligible.

🔹 Responsibilities

• Design and develop smart contracts used for rollup orchestration in the Gateway.
• Apply blockchain security best practices including multisig, DAO governance, and cross-chain interaction models.
• Collaborate with engineers, cryptographers, and DevOps teams on development and deployment of core components.
• Contribute to internal tools, developer documentation, and technical support.
• Maintain awareness of rollup technologies, Layer 2 developments, and evolving blockchain standards.
• Optimize gas usage through efficient memory, calldata, storage, and event design.

🔹 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
• 3+ years of software engineering experience with strong Solidity and EVM understanding.
• Demonstrated experience in gas optimization and secure smart contract development.
• Familiarity with rollups and blockchain scalability concepts.
• (Preferred) 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• (Preferred) Open-source contributions or experience building blockchain tools.
• (Preferred) Experience with frontend frameworks for dApp presentation.
• (Preferred) Knowledge of cryptography, ZK or Fully Homomorphic Encryption concepts.
