Software Engineer — Payments Infrastructure

Codex is building infrastructure for stablecoin-powered cross-border payments, enabling faster, lower-cost, and more transparent money movement compared to traditional financial systems. This Software Engineer role owns critical payment and compliance workflows spanning customer onboarding, KYC, KYB, transaction monitoring, payment execution, settlement, and reconciliation. Working closely with founders, Trading Operations, Compliance, and Legal teams, the successful candidate will help design and maintain backend systems that support stablecoin settlement, payment rails, AML controls, ledger infrastructure, and regulatory reporting. The position offers significant ownership across payment operations and compliance architecture while contributing to blockchain infrastructure roles supporting real-world financial services.
🔹 Responsibilities
• Own integrations with third-party payment providers, including payout workflows, API integrations, and sandbox or testnet validation.
• Design and implement architectures governing interactions between first-party and third-party payment flows while considering maintainability, coupling, and operational risk.
• Integrate global payment rails, banking systems, payment service providers, and liquidity partners.
• Build document storage capabilities and invoice processing pipelines supporting third-party operational workflows.
• Collaborate with Legal and Compliance teams on technical and regulatory considerations arising from payment integrations.
• Build and maintain settlement, reconciliation, and ledger systems supporting both fiat and crypto transaction flows.
• Develop stablecoin on-ramp and off-ramp functionality alongside supporting crypto compliance infrastructure.
• Lead backend architecture improvements and refactoring initiatives to improve system correctness and maintainability.
• Design and maintain order management functionality including cancellation handling, payout processing, and state validation workflows.
• Build operational tooling that enables non-engineering teams to manage pending payout workflows efficiently.
• Develop onboarding infrastructure covering KYC, KYB, identity verification integrations, and risk scoring systems.
• Own KYT integration layers across fiat and crypto deposit, payment, and order workflows.
• Build transaction monitoring, AML controls, and sanctions screening capabilities.
• Maintain compliance-related data infrastructure including audit logs, reporting pipelines, and regulatory reporting workflows.
• Contribute to KYT implementation strategies across third-party payment flows.

• Ability to translate business requirements or regulatory obligations into clear technical specifications.
