Job description

Chainlink is the industry-standard decentralized oracle network bringing capital markets onchain and securing the vast majority of decentralized finance (DeFi). The Chainlink stack provides the essential data, interoperability, compliance, and privacy standards needed to power institutional tokenized assets, lending protocols, payments, and stablecoins.

Role Summary

As a Software Engineer on the Data Feeds team, you will build and scale high-throughput, fault-tolerant infrastructure that delivers secure, real-time market data to smart contracts globally. You will collaborate closely with distributed systems and cryptography experts to design resilient data ingestion, aggregation, and onchain delivery pipelines that secure billions in DeFi total value locked (TVL).

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Feeds Infrastructure: Build and maintain scalable, reliable, and secure software powering Chainlink’s decentralized oracle data feeds.

  • Distributed Systems Engineering: Design fault-tolerant offchain aggregation pipelines and resilient consensus mechanisms.

  • Smart Contract Integration: Develop and optimize onchain interfaces and protocols that interact seamlessly with EVM and multi-chain networks.

  • High Availability & Performance: Ensure high uptime, sub-second latency, and robust error-handling across volatile market conditions.

  • Continuous Innovation: Apply cutting-edge research in distributed systems, cryptography, game theory, and data integrity to production codebases.

Requirements & Qualifications

Must-Haves

  • Engineering Background: Professional software engineering experience designing and operating production backend services and distributed architectures.

  • Strong Programming Foundations: Proficiency in strongly typed systems programming languages (e.g., Golang, Rust, or modern TypeScript).

  • System Design & Reliability: Deep understanding of concurrency, data structures, networking protocols, and high-throughput data processing.

  • Communication & Autonomy: Strong written communication skills with the ability to operate autonomously in an asynchronous, globally distributed team.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Golang Expertise: Hands-on production experience writing idiomatic Golang.

  • Financial Market Data: Prior experience handling real-time financial market feeds, ticker data, or high-frequency order books.

  • Web3 & Smart Contracts: Familiarity with Solidity, EVM mechanics, and oracle architecture.
