Senior Software Engineer — Infrastructure

Robinhood develops financial technology products focused on expanding access to financial services and investing tools. This infrastructure-focused engineering role is based in Menlo Park, California and supports the development of scalable systems that power core products, internal platforms, and engineering services. The Senior Software Engineer will lead infrastructure initiatives across cloud environments, developer platforms, deployment systems, and production operations. Working closely with engineering teams, the role involves designing distributed systems, improving observability, enhancing platform capabilities, and supporting large-scale workloads. Candidates with experience in infrastructure engineering, SRE, cloud platforms, Kubernetes, automation, and production systems will be particularly relevant.

🔹 Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and operate scalable, highly available infrastructure systems supporting core products and internal services

• Lead the design, development, and evolution of internal platforms, shared services, and engineering tooling

• Support reliable software development, testing, deployment, and operational workflows at scale

• Own infrastructure systems throughout requirements gathering, architecture, implementation, deployment, production support, and continuous improvement

• Collaborate across engineering teams to support business-critical workloads, platform services, and large-scale integrations

• Identify reliability, scalability, operational, and performance challenges and implement long-term solutions through automation and observability

• Provide technical leadership during on-call rotations, incident response activities, root cause investigations, and remediation efforts

• Define monitoring, capacity planning, and scaling strategies for infrastructure and production environments

• Advance security, compliance, and operational standards across infrastructure systems

• Mentor engineers, review technical designs, and influence engineering direction

• Create and maintain technical documentation, architecture proposals, and operational guidance

🔹 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field and 5 years of progressively responsible post-baccalaureate experience in a related occupation

• Alternatively, a Master's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field

• Experience with GoLang, Python, or Scala

• Experience with Kubernetes and Docker

• Experience working with AWS services including EC2, S3, IAM, and VPC

• Experience using Terraform and CloudFormation

• Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, and Datadog

• Experience using Buildkite, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions

• Experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, and DynamoDB

• Experience with Kafka or Kinesis
