Alchemy builds developer infrastructure used to create, scale, and operate blockchain-based applications and onchain products. The Senior Engineering Manager, Infrastructure & Platform role focuses on leading multiple backend-focused teams responsible for core cloud infrastructure, platform services, data engineering, and internal tooling.

This position owns technical execution and long-term platform strategy for systems that require high throughput, low latency, and strong reliability at scale. The role works closely with product managers and senior leadership to align infrastructure capabilities with company goals, while guiding teams through growth, process maturity, and technical decision-making. The manager also plays a key role in hiring, mentoring engineers, and shaping engineering culture across the organization.

🔹 Responsibilities

Lead multiple engineering teams covering cloud infrastructure, platform services, data engineering, and internal tooling.
Define and oversee backend and platform strategies that serve as shared foundations for company-wide products and services.
Track emerging technologies and ecosystem developments to inform technical direction and communicate progress clearly.
Improve execution quality by mentoring engineers, refining processes, and maintaining high technical standards as teams scale.
Recruit, interview, and hire senior engineering talent to support team growth.
Contribute to overall engineering culture through leadership, mentorship, and continuous learning initiatives.

🔹 Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
7+ years of software development experience, ideally with distributed systems.
4+ years of engineering management experience leading backend teams for production infrastructure in high-growth environments.
Demonstrated expertise building and operating large-scale distributed systems.
Strong experience with Java, Kubernetes, AWS, and multi-region or multi-cloud architectures (preferred).
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Clear written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and open-source engagement.
Ability to work autonomously, balance execution speed with quality, and explore emerging technologies in crypto and AI.

🔹 Compensation & Benefits

Base salary range: $240,000 – $330,000 annually (base salary only).
