Provable is seeking a Security Engineer to oversee and secure its technology infrastructure, with a strong focus on cryptocurrency private key management, cloud security, and systems reliability. The role is part of the engineering function and supports a remote-first operating model.
This position is responsible for protecting sensitive cryptographic assets, strengthening cloud security practices—particularly within Google Cloud Platform—and ensuring the availability and integrity of production systems. The Security Engineer will manage security operations end to end, including audits, incident response, access controls, and infrastructure administration. The role also contributes to internal security awareness, documentation, and process improvement in a fast-moving startup environment.
🔹 Responsibilities
Manage and safeguard cryptocurrency private keys using established key management best practices
Define and enforce secure key storage and access controls, including HSM usage and multi-signature configurations
Secure, review, and audit GCP infrastructure, covering IAM, security groups, and related controls
Conduct routine security audits and compliance checks to identify and remediate vulnerabilities
Implement and maintain multi-factor authentication across critical systems
Monitor security alerts, respond to incidents, and perform vulnerability assessments and penetration testing
Handle system administration duties to ensure infrastructure availability and reliability
Participate in on-call rotations for infrastructure support and issue resolution
Develop and maintain security policies, procedures, and technical documentation
Deliver security training and awareness initiatives while staying current with evolving security practices
🔹 Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related discipline
3+ years of professional experience in security engineering
Practical experience managing cryptocurrency private keys and secure key management systems
Strong understanding of GCP security best practices
Experience with Linux/Unix system administration and MFA implementation
Familiarity with security frameworks and standards such as NIST and ISO 27001
Experience scripting for automation and security process improvement
Working knowledge of Linux distributions, Windows, macOS, and major cloud platforms
Hands-on exposure to security and monitoring tools including SIEM, vulnerability scanners, and network analysis tools
Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills
Ability to work independently while collaborating in a team environment
Detail-oriented mindset with a proactive approach to security and continuous learning
