Rust Distributed Systems Engineer - P2P networking
FULL_TIME • NA
Nomos is building the foundation for decentralized network states — lightweight blockchains known as Zones — designed for privacy, interoperability, and self-governance. Backed by Logos, Nomos aims to make censorship-resistant and neutral infrastructure accessible to all.
We’re looking for a Senior Engineer with deep Rust and P2P networking expertise to help us build and optimize decentralized systems that can handle real-world complexity and Byzantine environments.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement peer-to-peer networking protocols for resilient Web3 infrastructure.
Build and optimize distributed system components ensuring scalability and low-latency communication.
Convert P2P research into production-grade Rust implementations.
Develop proof-of-concepts for new consensus or gossip layers.
Benchmark and enhance network performance metrics like node throughput and reliability.
Document system behavior with clear, technical communication and diagrams.
What We’re Looking For
Proven expertise in Rust (mandatory).
Hands-on experience with P2P protocol design — discovery, data propagation, network topologies.
Deep understanding of distributed systems and Byzantine fault tolerance.
Familiarity with consensus mechanisms, distributed storage, or DHT-based systems.
Strong fundamentals in cryptography, algorithms, and computer networking.
Belief in open protocols, privacy, and credible neutrality.
Bonus Skills
Experience with gossip protocols, BFT consensus, or network resilience engineering.
Why Join Nomos?
You’ll be part of a team shaping the backbone of network states — blending cutting-edge research, Rust engineering, and cryptographic design. The culture values open collaboration, long-term vision, and meaningful autonomy.
