Protocol Engineer — Solidity/Smart Contracts

Alchemy provides developer infrastructure for building and scaling onchain applications, offering APIs, SDKs, and tools used by leading web3 and web2 companies. This role fits within web3 smart contract roles, focused on protocol design and production-grade smart contract systems.

As a Protocol Engineer, you will design and build distributed protocols, write and deploy Solidity-based smart contracts, and ensure security, performance, and scalability. The role involves working on high-impact infrastructure used by developers and applications across the ecosystem, contributing to systems handling significant usage and adoption.

Supporting teams focused on building a web3 engineering team for protocol-level infrastructure.

🔹 Responsibilities

• Architect and design distributed protocols with focus on security, scalability, and performance
• Write, deploy, test, and maintain smart contracts in production environments
• Develop best practices for protocol upgrades and versioning across networks
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and design teams on applications built around smart contract protocols
• Mentor engineers on Solidity, EVM concepts, and best practices
• Stay updated with Solidity releases, tooling advancements, and emerging exploits

🔹 Requirements

• 6+ years of relevant industry experience
• 2+ years of smart contract development with production deployments of non-trivial protocols and security audits
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
• Strong proficiency in Solidity and the EVM
• Experience designing distributed protocols
• Experience building, testing, deploying, and maintaining high-traffic smart contracts
• Experience managing protocols with significant TVL is a plus
• Ability to balance rapid shipping with building stable infrastructure
• Experience working in startup environments
• Strong interest in blockchain technologies and Web3
• Founder mindset or experience building side projects is a plus
