Role Summary
As a Crypto Backend Engineer on the Trezor team, you will build and maintain backend systems that stay resilient even when blockchain nodes, RPC endpoints, or third-party APIs fail. You will own your work end-to-end—actively maintaining and developing Blockbook (Trezor's open-source multi-currency blockchain indexer), building data services for Trezor Suite, and shaping the long-term reliability and architecture of Trezor's blockchain infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Blockbook Indexer Engineering: Maintain and actively develop Blockbook, the open-source blockchain indexer created by Trezor and relied on by major global RPC providers.
Trezor Suite Services: Build and scale backend services powering real-time fiat rates, token/coin metadata, transaction fee estimations, and on-chain telemetry.
Fault-Tolerant Architecture: Design and deploy services capable of handling network partitions, node desyncs, and third-party API degradations gracefully.
Observability & Health: Implement metrics, structured logging, distributed tracing, and alerting to proactively resolve production incidents.
Open-Source Contribution: Collaborate and publish code following open-source standards and community-driven development workflows on GitHub.
Requirements & Qualifications
Must-Haves
Core Technical Stack: Production experience with TypeScript, Node.js, Go, PostgreSQL, and Docker.
Distributed Systems & Failure Analysis: Strong ability to investigate failures across application layers, databases, network boundaries, and RPC nodes.
Blockchain Infrastructure Knowledge: Familiarity with blockchain nodes, RPC APIs, blockchain explorers, indexers, and third-party crypto data providers.
Observability Foundations: Practical experience with production monitoring, logging, metrics, and alerting frameworks.
Development Workflow: Fluency with Git and public/open-source developer workflows.
Communication: Good written and spoken English.
Nice-to-Haves
Hands-on experience contributing to open-source crypto infrastructure or indexers.
In-depth understanding of UTXO and EVM transaction lifecycles and node mechanics.
