Agent Engineer — AI / LLM Systems

TRM Labs builds blockchain analytics and AI platforms used by financial institutions, law enforcement, and crypto businesses to detect and investigate financial crime. This role sits within the AI Engineering team, focused on deploying LLM-powered and agentic systems into production at scale. 

Operating remotely in the United States, you will design infrastructure, pipelines, and orchestration layers that support real-time analysis, low-latency systems, and high-reliability AI applications. The position combines backend engineering, AI system design, and production deployment, contributing directly to blockchain infrastructure roles where AI enhances investigative workflows and operational intelligence.

🔹 Responsibilities

• Architect and implement agentic frameworks supporting tool use, memory, planning, and context retrieval
• Build modular AI agents that automate investigative workflows and support analyst decision-making
• Extend and scale LLM infrastructure including prompt engineering, RAG, and evaluation systems
• Design safe, observable, and auditable agent behaviors for reliable deployment
• Measure system performance across reasoning, latency, success rates, and hallucination reduction
• Contribute to a culture of ownership, experimentation, and responsible AI deployment

This role aligns with evolving web3 security roles integrating AI into compliance and intelligence systems.

🔹 Requirements

• Strong backend or systems engineering experience (Python preferred)
• Hands-on experience with LLMs, agent frameworks, and supporting tools (LangChain, vector databases, etc.)
• Experience working with agentic pipelines and optimizing information flow
• Strong system design skills with focus on scalability, safety, and explainability
• High product awareness with focus on real-world user impact
• Strong bias toward experimentation, iteration, and rapid deployment

Nice to Have:

• Experience with knowledge graphs, orchestration systems, or AI safety

🔹 Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary: $200,000 – $275,000 USD
• Eligibility for equity participation
