How do you explain blockchain interoperability in a blockchain internship interview? I’m a CS student preparing for interviews and keep seeing this topic come up.

Should I talk about cross-chain communication, bridges, or examples like Polkadot and Cosmos?

Do interviewers expect technical details like atomic swaps or multi-chain dApps, or just a big-picture overview?

If you’ve answered this in an interview or have tips on covering interoperability, especially for blockchain adoption and scalability, I’d appreciate your advice.

If you get asked about blockchain interoperability in your interview, start by saying it’s basically how different blockchains can talk to each other and share data or assets.

Interviewers want to see that you understand why this matters—so point out that without interoperability, blockchains stay isolated and can’t really scale or work together. It helps to mention things like cross-chain bridges (for example, moving tokens between Ethereum and Polkadot) or real-world projects like Cosmos and Polkadot that focus on this problem. If you’re comfortable, you can touch on atomic swaps or multi-chain dApps, but don’t stress about going super technical unless they ask.

The main thing is to show you get why interoperability is key for blockchain adoption and growth.
