AOB Announcement: 1:1 Direct Messaging is live (request-based)

1:1 Direct Messaging is now available on ArtOfBlockchain.club.

This is meant to support focused career and hiring conversations without turning AOB into a noisy inbox.

How messaging works

• First message = a request.
  If someone messages you for the first time, you’ll see it as a request.

• You can Accept or Ignore.
  Messaging continues only after you accept.

• You can start a DM from any member’s profile using the Message action.

• Your inbox lives at /inbox with a clean list of conversations, unread highlights, and message previews.

Controls & privacy (important)

• Communities can set simple eligibility thresholds for who can DM (based on account age + activity) to reduce spam.

• Ignore works as quiet suppression (no alerts or visible feedback to the other person).

• Delete is “delete for me” (removes from your inbox only; history isn’t wiped).

• Pending requests allow only one message — no follow-up spam unless you accept.

A few notes

• Read receipts are supported.

• Image uploads in DMs are disabled for now by product choice.

When to use DMs on AOB

Use DMs when you need a quick private clarification after a public thread, for example:

• role fit / hiring loop questions

• portfolio proof checks

• salary/contract clarifications

• relocation / visa-sensitive questions

• sharing feedback that doesn’t belong publicly

If you’re already a member, open /inbox and try it.
If you’d like to connect 1:1 with someone, start from their profile — keep the first message concise and context-rich.
