This Smart Contract Engineer role focuses on Solidity development across vault systems, upgradeable proxy architecture, account abstraction, and cross-chain messaging. The position owns architecture, delivery, and security of production smart contracts securing significant on-chain assets. As part of web3 smart contract roles within a high-growth DeFi protocol, you will contribute to secure contract design, deployment, upgrades, and audit coordination. The team operates remote-first and emphasizes reliability, formal verification, and audit-by-design security practices.
This position sits within layer 2 scaling jobs and broader DeFi infrastructure, where contract safety and system resilience directly impact user funds.
πΉ Responsibilities
β’ Contribute across Solidity codebases including upgrade patterns, proxy architecture, account abstraction, and cross-chain messaging
β’ Lead structured design reviews, threat modeling, fuzz testing, and formal verification processes
β’ Deploy, maintain, and upgrade production vault contracts
β’ Own end-to-end delivery of new protocol features
β’ Coordinate with external auditors and manage bug bounty programs
β’ Implement on-chain monitoring and incident response playbooks
β’ Represent the protocol in integrations, conferences, and open-source discussions

πΉ Requirements
β’ 6+ years of software engineering experience
β’ 2β3+ years writing production Solidity, including ERC-20, ERC-4626, custom libraries, and proxy/upgrade patterns
β’ Proven record of building or maintaining contract systems without critical incidents
β’ Strong understanding of EVM internals, gas optimization, storage layout, and common exploits (re-entrancy, oracle manipulation, MEV)
β’ Proficiency with Foundry and/or Hardhat
β’ Strong written and verbal English communication skills
Preferred Skills & Experience
β’ Familiarity with multi-chain DeFi interactions and cross-chain messaging standards
β’ Professional experience with Rust
β’ Experience with Move-based smart contract platforms (e.g., Aptos)
β’ Background in traditional finance, risk, credit, or derivatives
β’ Contributions to open-source security research, EIPs, or protocol governance
β’ Formal verification experience
β’ Experience working through audit cycles with firms such as Trail of Bits or Spearbit
