Smart Contract Engineer — Rust / Solana
Remote · Worldwide
DoubleZero is building a high-performance, permissionless network designed to improve bandwidth and reduce latency for distributed systems, including blockchain infrastructure. The protocol focuses on optimizing data flow across global networks using private fiber connectivity and filtering mechanisms to enhance validator and system performance.
This role is part of layer 1 blockchain jobs where engineers contribute directly to protocol-level systems. The Smart Contract Engineer will design, build, and maintain smart contracts primarily on Solana/SVM, while also supporting multi-chain environments including Ethereum. You will work across Rust-based development, secure contract design, and supporting backend systems in a remote-first setup focused on scalable, low-latency infrastructure.
Supporting teams focused on building a web3 engineering team for protocol-level development.
🔹 Responsibilities
• Develop smart contracts on Solana/SVM and other blockchain environments
• Identify and implement improvements to support multi-tenancy within the protocol
• Build secure smart contracts with unit and integration testing
• Participate in auditing and testing processes to ensure contract security
• Apply knowledge of smart contract ecosystems including Solana, Ethereum, and related technologies
• Decide when to build new components versus using existing open-source libraries
• Develop software systems that interact with and complement smart contracts
• Contribute to codebase discussions through issues and pull requests
Supporting hiring signals aligned with what recruiters look for in crypto jobs.
🔹 Requirements
• 2+ years of smart contract development experience, with additional software engineering experience preferred
• Strong proficiency in Rust
• Experience with one or more of TypeScript, Shell scripting, Solidity, Move, or Go
• Experience working on teams building products on crypto protocols
• Familiarity with agile environments such as scrum and sprint-based development
• Experience contributing to open-source software systems and understanding impact of changes
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
Preferred Attributes:
Builder mindset, problem-solving ability, interest in distributed systems, and alignment with blockchain-driven infrastructure development
Roles like this reflect growing demand for protocol engineers in blockchain infrastructure roles where Rust, Solana, and multi-chain experience are increasingly critical for next-generation distributed systems.
