Senior Software Engineer — Trading Infrastructure — United States / Canada — Remote

Gauntlet is a quantitative research and infrastructure firm focused on optimizing risk, liquidity, and performance across decentralized finance protocols. This full-time remote role in the United States or Canada supports the development of low-latency trading infrastructure and distributed systems that power derivatives strategies managing billions in onchain capital.

The engineer will design scalable backend services, streaming pipelines, and Web3 integrations using technologies such as Python, Rust, JavaScript/TypeScript, Kafka, and cloud platforms like GCP. This role contributes to blockchain infrastructure roles supporting automated trading, smart contract integrations, and real-time data systems that enable secure and efficient DeFi operation

This position operates within blockchain infrastructure roles focused on building resilient systems that support live crypto trading environments.

🔹 Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain distributed systems operating reliably in production environments
• Develop low-latency systems and streaming architectures to support real-time and near real-time workloads
• Create and maintain data pipelines and ETL workflows for ingesting, processing, and serving structured and onchain data
• Build application services and APIs used internally and externally across trading and infrastructure systems
• Integrate Web3 protocols by interacting with smart contracts, ingesting onchain data through RPC endpoints, logs, and indexing systems
• Apply SRE principles to enhance system reliability, monitoring, observability, and operational performance
• Participate in incident response and debugging to resolve production issues and prevent recurrence
• Contribute to system design reviews and maintain engineering standards across infrastructure components
• Use AI-assisted tools responsibly to improve development workflows, code quality, and system performance
• Document infrastructure systems, architecture decisions, and operational workflows

🔹 Requirements

• 6+ years of professional experience in software engineering roles
• Strong proficiency in Python, Rust, and/or JavaScript/TypeScript
• Experience building low-latency or high-throughput distributed systems
• Experience designing, deploying, and operating scalable backend infrastructure
• Hands-on experience working with Web3 systems, including smart contracts and onchain data ingestion
• Experience with streaming or messaging platforms such as Kafka or Pub/Sub
• Experience with databases such as Postgres or ClickHouse
• Experience deploying and operating applications in cloud environments such as GCP
• Familiarity with containerization tools including Docker and Kubernetes
• Understanding of SRE practices including monitoring, alerting, and incident management
• Knowledge of security fundamentals including authentication, authorization, and secrets management

🔹 Bonus Qualifications

• Experience working in financial services or trading environments
• Experience developing smart contracts using Solidity
• Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Dagster
• Experience managing infrastructure with strict performance or reliability requirements
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools or CI/CD pipelines

🔹 Compensation & Benefits

• Salary range: $185,000 – $225,000 USD per year
• Additional national pay range: $165,000 – $205,000 USD plus incentive compensation and equity
