Release Engineer — MetaMask

This role supports MetaMask’s mobile and browser extension teams by ensuring smooth, consistent, and high-quality application releases. As a Release Engineer, you will manage daily release operations, validate builds, automate workflows, and oversee CI/CD pipelines across multiple platforms. The position involves coordinating with engineering, QA, and product teams to maintain build health, manage store submissions, and improve release tooling.

You will also handle versioning, signing, and feature flag rollouts while contributing to documentation and process improvements. This fully remote role spans multiple regions and focuses on reliability, communication, and hands-on release execution rather than traditional infrastructure DevOps.

🔹 Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day release tasks, including cherry-pick reviews, build validation, and release coordination.

• Own and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Bitrise, GitHub Actions, GitHub Runners, Advanced GH Workflows, and CircleCI.

• Automate build, test, and release workflows using scripting tools (Bash, TypeScript/JavaScript).

• Monitor build health, resolve issues, and remove blockers proactively.

• Manage proper versioning, tagging, and signing for mobile and browser extension builds.

• Submit and track releases across the App Store, Play Store, and extension stores (Chrome, Firefox, Edge).

• Partner with QA to integrate unit, UI, and end-to-end tests in release processes.

• Maintain documentation and checklists for consistent release operations.

• Coordinate feature flag rollouts using LaunchDarkly with product and engineering teams.

🔹 Requirements

• 3+ years in release engineering, CI/CD, or build/release coordination.

• Experience supporting cross-functional engineering teams and reviewing/cherry-picking production branches.

• Strong knowledge of CI/CD systems including Bitrise, GitHub Actions, CircleCI, and GitHub Runners.

• Proficiency in scripting, Git workflows, and YML-based automation.

• Familiarity with semantic versioning and release lifecycle processes.

• Excellent communication skills for fast-moving, distributed teams.

• Nice to have: Experience with LaunchDarkly or other feature flag systems.

• Nice to have: Knowledge of staged rollouts, crash monitoring, and store compliance.

• Nice to have: Experience with iOS and Android release tools (Fastlane, Xcode, TestFlight, Gradle, Play Console).

• Nice to have: Experience with browser extension APIs, Manifest v2/v3, or extension stores.

• Nice to have: Contributions to release tooling or open-source automation.

🔹 Compensation & Benefits

• US base salary range: $86,000–$156,000 (excluding bonus, equity, and benefits).
