DevOps Engineer — Senior/Staff

ENS Labs, the core development team behind the Ethereum Name Service protocol, is hiring a Senior/Staff-level DevOps Engineer to manage and maintain the infrastructure that supports ENS resolution across multiple chains. This role oversees operational reliability for core services such as metadata systems, indexing services, CCIP-Read gateways, and emerging Namechain/L2 infrastructure.

The position involves managing cloud environments, automation workflows, observability tooling, key custodianship, and incident handling within an experienced remote engineering team. The role contributes directly to the stability and scalability of ENS infrastructure and supports the development of the next version of the protocol.

🔹 Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain cloud infrastructure using AWS or GCP, including Kubernetes, networking, scaling, and performance.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and Infrastructure as Code.
• Oversee end-to-end testing using Docker/Compose-based testing environments with integrated data and release gating.
• Operate and harden the metadata service including caching, rollout strategies, secret handling, and service reliability.
• Deploy and scale CCIP-Read gateways, oversee signing keys, monitor performance, and maintain SLA targets.
• Run and optimize ENSIndexer across L1/L2, including managing Postgres performance, schema management, and RPC-based indexing.
• Set up and maintain L2 nodes, plan upgrades, handle monitoring, snapshotting, and provider coordination.
• Build observability through metrics, alerts, dashboards, and lead incident responses and post-mortems.
• Enforce access controls, key custody, security standards, and secret management.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering teams while producing runbooks and technical documentation.

🔹 Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of DevOps/SRE experience operating production systems with Kubernetes on AWS and/or GCP.
• Proven experience with GitHub Actions and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Pulumi, or Ansible.
• Proficiency in scripting/automation with TypeScript/Node, Python, or Go.
• Ability to implement and maintain observability systems using metrics, dashboards, and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus/Grafana).
• Working knowledge of Postgres operations (migrations, performance, backup) and Redis.
• Experience applying security best practices and handling operational & production issues.
• Familiarity with Ethereum and L2 concepts and experience operating nodes or RPC-dependent services.
• Strong communication and documentation skills suited for a remote and asynchronous work environment.
• (Preferred) Experience with ENS-related infra, cross-chain tools, zk-based rollups, prover coordination, key rotation, or relevant open-source contributions.
