Backend Engineer — Node.js / TypeScript

MoonPay operates a unified payments platform that enables users to buy, sell, swap, and transact digital currencies through a compliant and scalable infrastructure. The platform integrates identity verification, fraud prevention, and settlement systems to support global usage across regulated markets including the United States, UK, and EU.

This role sits within small cross-functional squads (4–6 engineers) working across payments, crypto, NFTs, and core product systems. The Backend Engineer owns development and maintenance of server-side applications, contributing to scalable architecture and feature delivery in a remote, distributed environment. This is part of blockchain infrastructure roles where teams are focused on building reliable systems that support high-volume transaction flows.

Supporting teams focused on scaling a web3 team and improving backend system reliability.

🔹 Responsibilities

• Develop new and existing products and features
• Collaborate with product teams to deliver and enhance customer-facing functionality
• Contribute to estimation, planning, and execution of projects, features, and integrations
• Integrate with external service providers to ensure smooth system operations
• Maintain and improve the existing codebase
• Write high-quality, performant, and fully tested code

🔹 Requirements

• Experience in software engineering within fast-growing startups or leading tech companies
• Ability to develop, release, and maintain server-side applications in iterative environments
• Familiarity with parts of the tech stack or ability to upskill quickly
• Strong understanding of database structures, principles, and best practices
• Experience with cloud-native environments such as Google Cloud Platform, AWS, or Azure (preferred but not mandatory)
• Bonus: open-source contributions, Web3 exposure, or fintech/payments industry experience
