Backend Engineer — MetaMask (API Platform)

This role supports MetaMask’s API Platform team, which builds backend services powering key product experiences across MetaMask clients. As a Backend Engineer, you will develop Node.js services that support APIs such as Price, Token, Account, and NFT, contributing to reliable and scalable infrastructure used by millions of users.

The position involves working in a remote, distributed environment, shipping production-grade backend applications, writing technical documentation, and improving CI/CD workflows. You’ll collaborate with engineers across teams while supporting agile development and maintaining PostgreSQL-backed systems.

🔹 Responsibilities

• Develop backend APIs and services powering MetaMask’s platform using Node.js and TypeScript.

• Work on production applications with PostgreSQL-backed systems.

• Support agile project development within distributed teams.

• Contribute to CI/CD workflows and pipeline improvements.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable backend capabilities.

• Produce clear and maintainable technical documentation.

🔹 Requirements

• 3+ years of backend engineering experience building production systems.

• Strong experience with Node.js (preferably TypeScript).

• Knowledge of PostgreSQL.

• Experience working in an Agile environment.

• Experience with CI/CD setups.

• Comfortable working on remote, distributed teams.

• Strong communication skills and solid documentation habits.

• Bonus: Team Lead or Tech Lead experience.

• Bonus: Experience working with financial institutions, neobanks, or Web3 vendors.

• Bonus: Background in microservices architectures.

• Bonus: Blockchain knowledge, especially Ethereum.

• Bonus: Experience with Solidity, Web3.js, or Ethers.js.

• Bonus: Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, or cloud deployments (AWS/Azure).

• Bonus: Experience deploying blockchain infrastructure.

🔹 Compensation & Benefits

• US base salary range: $155,000–$186,000 (excluding bonus, equity, benefits).
