    Role Overview

    Nexus is seeking Systems Engineers based in Latin America, specifically in Brazil, to join the core execution stack team. You’ll be working at the heart of Nexus’s runtime — designing and optimizing critical components that power decentralized trading at scale.

    Unlike traditional backend development, this position requires a hands-on approach to protocol design and systems optimization. You’ll help shape the consensus layer, execution environment, and RPC frameworks that underpin Nexus’s Layer 1 blockchain.

    This is a chance to work on high-performance systems where microseconds matter — ideal for engineers passionate about low-level optimization, distributed architectures, and verifiable financial primitives.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Architect and optimize components for the DEX engine and protocol runtime using Rust, Go, or C++.

    • Build and fine-tune all layers of the blockchain protocol — consensus, execution, and RPC infrastructure.

    • Create low-latency pipelines for real-time order execution and state propagation.

    • Develop new financial primitives and integrate them at the protocol level.

    • Optimize for determinism, memory management, concurrency, and throughput.

    • Collaborate with protocol and cryptography engineers to ensure safety and composability.

    • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks using advanced profiling and tracing techniques.

    • For senior engineers: take ownership of architectural design, mentor peers, and lead optimization initiatives.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Strong foundation in systems programming — writing robust, modular code in complex environments.

    • Proficiency in Rust, or equivalent experience in C++/Go focused on performance-critical applications.

    • Understanding of high-performance computing, distributed systems, or low-latency infrastructures.

    • Ability to reason about execution models, resource lifecycles, and system-level concurrency.

    • Experience with profiling tools, benchmarking, or CPU/memory optimization.

    • Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and clear communication skills.

    • Familiarity with competitive programming or problem-solving under constraints is an advantage.

    Bonus Expertise

    • Experience in matching engines, databases, compilers, or blockchain runtimes.

    • Knowledge of lock-free concurrency, zero-copy systems, or cache optimization.

    • Exposure to protocol engineering, consensus mechanisms, or transaction ordering.

    • Contributions to open-source systems projects or experience in formal verification frameworks.
