Post-Airdrop Reality — How Do You Redefine “Growth” Once Speculators Leave?

We launched our DeFi token three months ago, and after the airdrop hype faded, our active wallets dropped from 9K to 2.8K. Discord is quieter, yet treasury inflows from staking fees remain steady.

My founder insists we’re still “growing,” but I can feel the energy dying. How do you redefine growth in the post-airdrop stage when hype dies but core usage continues?

What frameworks do you use to distinguish “noise” growth (temporary airdrop hunters) from “signal” growth (long-term believers)? Would love real metrics or dashboards that helped your project see reality clearly.

We faced the same cliff in 2023. Our fix: replace TVL-based KPIs with Value Retention KPIs. We tracked weekly “Stable Wallets” — addresses active for 30+ consecutive days — via Dune. Those became our core audience. Growth = net gain in that segment, not total wallets. Once we framed it this way, team morale and roadmap clarity improved.
