    Job description

    Polygon Labs builds aggregation-based blockchain infrastructure via the Agglayer and contributes to core scaling technologies such as Polygon PoS, Katana, and developer frameworks. The Engineering Manager, Payments role leads the development of a global fintech stack supporting digital payments, wallet infrastructure, compliance pipelines, currency conversions, and on/off ramp experiences.

    This position involves team leadership, technical direction, and architectural decision-making to support secure, high-performance financial systems. The role collaborates with engineering, design, and product teams to build compliant payment flows while defining engineering standards and growing a high-performing technical team.

    🔹 Responsibilities

    • Lead and expand an engineering team building secure and compliant payment infrastructure.
    • Define system architecture for KYC/AML, wallet flows, conversions, and transaction management.
    • Collaborate with Product and Design to translate financial requirements into backend systems.
    • Establish engineering practices for testing, CI/CD, documentation, and observability.
    • Mentor and support engineers, fostering accountability, inclusion, and technical excellence.
    • Align engineering execution with product milestones and organizational strategy.

    🔹 Requirements


    • 6+ years of backend engineering experience, with 2+ years in engineering management.
    • Proficiency in Golang and experience building distributed systems or production APIs.
    • Background in payments or fintech areas such as AML/KYC, FX, wallets, or on/off ramp systems.
    • Experience scaling teams and maintaining technical and operational standards.
    • Experience in building secure and compliant systems within regulatory constraints.
    • Preferred: experience in early-stage or greenfield product environments, understanding of jurisdictional compliance standards, and experience working with cross-functional stakeholders.
